Michael Jung to change horses for RIO due to injury
Bad news for Germany's Michael Jung as he yesterday  announced he will not take his favorite FischerTakinou to the games in Rio because of a small injury. Instead the reigning Olimpic champion in eventing will take his 2012 London Olympics horse  La Biosthetique-Sam FBW (foto) to Brasil.

Just last weekend Jung won the CIC3* in Aachen with Takinou on his final pactice run before the games. But  today Michael announced on Facebook  that the horsehad cought a small infection, and therefor it would not be good for him to fly and compete in rio.

“Today I have to write the worst news of the year,” he said, explaining that the decision not to travel Takinou has been taken with his family, coaches and team vet Dr Carsten Rohde.

Now the 16 year old Sam will have to join in the yourney across the ocean. But the horse is in fantastic form as he won Burghley last year and Badminton this spring, aloowing Jung to teake the second ever Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing.

Additionally it would also mean that with Sam headinf for RIO jung could set yet another historic result by winning the third even back-to-back inidividuel gold medal. A feat only done by Netherlands’ Charles Pahud de Mortanges (Marcroix) winning1928 and 1932 Games and New Zealand’s Mark Todd 8 Charisma) who won at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
