Top dressage sire, De Niro passed away
The top dressage sire, De Niro (Donnerhall x Akzent II) has passed away. The stallion's health was so poor the owner, Burkhard Wahler, decided to euthanize the stallion aged 24 years old.

The Hannover stallion has produced the most dressage horses. De Niro himself was active up to an international Grand Prix level. The Donnerhall-son also won the German dressage Derby.

De Niro lead the WBFSH ranking for years. He's the father of many international Grand Prix horses such as Desperados (Kristina Broring-Sprehe), Dablino (Anabel Balkenhol), D'Agostino (Fabienne Lütkemeier), Delagardo (Beatriz Ferrer-Salad), Deep Impact (Severo Jurado Lopez) and Voice (Edward Gal).

De Niro was no longer active in the breeding sports. He was enjoying his retirement under the saddle for walks and in the field.
