Ashleigh Glorioso and Turtle Crowned Sidesaddle Champions At Pennsylvania National Horse Show

Ashleigh Glorioso, 25, of Burke, Va., and Turtle were crowned champions in the Sidesaddle Division, sponsored by Mr. & Mrs. Richard L. Hornberger, at the Pennsylvania National Horse Show, presented by The Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund. Amy Jo Magee of Coatesville, Pa., and Little Lady were named Reserve Champions. Glorioso and Turtle won both the Over Fences Class and the Hunter Hack Class to earn the title.

"It's very special to win here," said Glorioso. "My horse was off the track so for him to come to a big venue like this is pretty great. A lot of people counted him out because he's not the flashiest horse, but for him to win here means a lot to me because I've trained him from the beginning."

Prior to his career as a show horse, Turtle raced at Laurel Park in Maryland and at Penn National Race Course. According to Glorioso, his name was a good indication of his performance on the track.

"He wasn't very fast," said Glorioso. "He raced five or six years and only won two races. We got him for free, my mom actually found him. She sent me pictures of him and I thought 'he's pretty cute' I've trained him since the beginning. He's a really cool horse and he will do just about anything. We've done the hunters, jumpers, and sidesaddle. He's got a lot of baggage from the racetrack, but it's worth putting up with because once you get on him all that goes away. He's very fun to ride."

Magee and Little Lady were consistent, placing second in all three classes for the reserve championship. The pair also participated in Hunt Night on Monday, representing the Kimberton Hunt.
