Chardon beats Exell in World Cup Mechelen
In Mechelen, a busy international weekend has just ended with the World Cup driving. Boyd Exell already won a few games so today he once again was the big favorite for the victory.

The Australian driver rode a very fast first round, resulting in a place in the drive-off. With him in the drive-off were the Dutch driver Ijsbrand Chardon and the Swiss driver Jerome Voutaz. A drive-off with these three drivers had to decide about the winner.

In that finale, it was the Dutchman Ijsbrand Chardon who ruled the show: he rode a very fast round and didn't make any mistakes. This resulted in a total time of 128,71 seconds. This was enough to take the victory. The world champion Boyd Exell rode a fast round as well, but one mistake resulted in a total of 129,55 seconds. Voutaz completed the top three with a total of 135,97 seconds.

For another Dutch driver, Koos de Ronde, there was a top five placing as well. In the first round, he was just not fast enough to make it into the drive-off. Eventually he ended on fourth place in the ranking. The Belgian driver Glenn Geerts took account of the fifth place.
