Philippines claim first equestrian gold at the ESA Games
SYQUIA Colin John Collins, on mount Adventure E, delivered Philippines first equestrian gold medal in the individual show jumping event on Monday (Aug 28) at the 3Q Equestrian Centre in Rawang. It was also the Philippines' 23rd gold medal of the Games.

The 47-year-old Filipino clocked the fastest time of 37.63 seconds without making a single mistake in the jump-off to outclass defending champion and Malaysian Sharmini Christina Ratnasingham. Sharmini, astride Arcado L, took silver in a time of 41.30s while Mohd Qabil Ambak Mahamad Fathil, on Arcado L, claimed the bronze in 41.66s.

“Sharmini and I had a good clear run today without knocking down any barrier,” said Qabil. “Colin’s horse Adventure E is fast compared to the other horses. He (Colin) took to the arena after I had completed my jumps and he knew the time needed to win the gold.”

Brunei's Pengiran Mohd Nasir finished fourth and Catherine Chew of Singapore fifth. Malaysia won three gold medals and silver in the competition. Quzandria Nur Mahamad Fathil won the individual dressage; team dressage and team show jumping competition.
