Slovakia might not be known as one of the biggest nations in horse sports but the popularity of the showjumping sport is growing rapidly with the international CSI3* Grand Prix of Bratislava being a prime example of how the country has grown in the field of showjumping.
Not only attracting local riders the field consisted of competitors from all nations in Europe and North-America the Grand Prix on Sunday was exciting to watch. In the field of 24 riders six riders produced a clear round having a final showdown in the jump-off.
In the jump-off it was Duff and the Belgian bred Pater de Noster (v. Parco) who like days before was the only one who was able to steer away from any faults. Runner up Kathrin Müller from Germany did have a very fast round aboard her chestnut Felithia DH of 48 seconds round, but had a pole come down dropping her to second place.
Canadian Ali Ramsey was also a top contender riding Hermelien van de Hogehoeve (v. Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve) thought he course in just over 50 seconds. But could not keep away from the wood like Duff did and finished in third with 4 penalty points.
Belgium riders Geatan Decroix and Fabienne Daigneux-Lange complemented the top five in the international field. Home rider Marian Stangel alkso qualified for the jump-off but could not produce a winning round for the Slovenian crowd. With his Oldenburger gelding Dadarco (v. Baloubet du Rouet) Stangel came across the finish line in 55.30 seconds with 8 penalties making him finish in sixth place.
