LGCT Monaco: Verlooy jumps to victory in opening class
In one of the most beautiful city-states of the world, Monaco, the 5* riders have begun their tournament. The first class that was scheduled for them was the "Prix Fédération Equestre de la Principauté de Monaco". This was a 1.45 m class in two fases counting for the Longines Ranking. 42 combinations appeared at the start but only one of them could be the winner. Victory was for the young Belgian rider Jos Verlooy. His father Axel Verlooy owns the Euro Horse stable for which Harrie Smolders is riding as well. Jos rode a clear second phase with Farfelu de la Pomme (Vigo d'Arsouilles) in 25,67 seconds. Second place was for Turkey. Omer Karaevli and Cortani (Cornet Obolensky) crossed the finish line in 26,07 seconds. A very fast time, but not fast enough to beat Verlooy. Pius Schwizer completed the top 3. He and PSG Future didn't touch the wood and finished only a little bit slower than Karaevli. Future crossed the finish line after 27,48 seconds.

Fourth place was Georgina Bloomberg. She saddled Balou (Balou du Rouet) and jumped two clear rounds. Piergiorgio Bucci and Chiba Chiba (Lancaster V) completed the top 5. The young Dutch rider Lisa Nooren and VDL Groep Centora de Wallyro rode two impressive rounds and came in sixth.
