In the past the Dutch Cognac du Vlist Z was competed by Leon Thijssen on an international level.
Only two clear rounds were ridden in the jump-off, both by European riders. Ulrich Kirchhof followed as runner-up with La Gomera. Van Paesschen crossed the finish in 48.20 seconds while Kirchhof stopped the clock in 48.69 seconds.
A platoon of Asia riders followed lead by China's Yong Zhang. Together with Cassini Boy Junior (Cassini II x Caretino) Zhang placed third with one jumping fault.
Hong Kong's finest, Kenneth Chang followed in fourth with the KWPN-horse, Bon Ami (Numero Uno x Wolfgang). The top five was completed by Jirigala Erdeng with Brikibo van de Bosbeek (by Concorde).
