he KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Second Rounds kicked off at Alnwick Ford Equestrian in Northumberland on Saturday and it was David Harland who jumped to victory against a thirty strong starting field.

Competitors gathered to battle it out for a place in the KBIS Insurance Senior British Novice Championship Final which is to be held at The British Showjumping National Championships in August. Following a nail biting first two rounds just seven combinations were left to contest for their treble clear in the final jump off. As the second rider out on the newly shortened course, David Harland from Kirknewton, West Lothian stepped it up a gear on board Elizabeth Smith’s 5 year-old chestnut gelding, Sarata 3 to deliver the only treble clear of the class in a lightning fast time of 30.46 seconds.

With a strong challenge, Abby Davison from Seaton Burn, Newcastle Upon Tyne riding her own 8 year-old bay mare, Eifona slipped into second place. This pair crossed the finish line in 32.54 seconds with four faults.
