Longines Masters: Michael Whitaker, master of the Six Bars, strikes again
In Hong Kong, the second day of the Longines Masters started with a Six Bar competition. Nine combinations entered the show ring for this class. Six combinations jumped four clear rounds and could come back for the final, all-deciding round. Michael Whitaker was the first to enter the show ring. He saddled his six-bar-champion Valentin R (f. Heartbreaker) for the job. Valentin is a 16-year old KWPN stallion. Whitaker did what everyone expected and jumped clear over 1m90. Marc Houtzager was the second rider to enter the show ring. With the only nine year old Sterrehof's Edinus (f. Padinus) he didn't make it over 1m90, resulting in 4 penalties.

Quanwei Meng, a chinese rider, entered the show ring with Clintorado (f. Clinton I), but decided to quit after a refusal on the last fence he decided to quit. After that something strange happened: Max Kühner, Olivier Robert and Gerco Schröder all decided not to ride anymore and therefore to leave the victory to Michael Whitaker.

Resulting in Whitaker and Valentin R once again adding a six bar victory to their list of wins. Marc Houtzager followed on second place, Quanwei Meng took account of the third place.
