Martin Fuchs claims fantastic home win in Speed Derby Geneva
At the penultimate day of the 57th edition of CHI Geneva they finished the day with the 'Prix Starling Hotel Geneva'. This is the annual speed derby taking place after the Rolex IJRC Top 10 Final. A lot of swiss riders competed in this class, but also some foreign riders decided to take a chance in this Table C class.

For a long time it looked like french rider Benoit Cernin was going to win, but that was before Martin Fuchs entered the arena. The swiss rider speeded to victory with the only eight year old Dubai du Bois Pinchet (Kashmir van Schuttershof) in front of his home crowd. Fuchs and the SBS-mare were almost last to go in this class and stayed clear in a super fast time of 62.32 seconds.

Benoit Cernin and Vackanda de Lojou (Apache d'Adriers) ended in second place. The french rider and the eight year old mare stayed clear in a time of 63.88 seconds. The only one who was faster than Martin Fuchs, was german rider Michael Jung. He already finished after 60.10 seconds with the grey mare Fischerdaily Impressed (Cartani), but four seconds were added to his time after he had a fence down. They ended with a total time of 64.10 seconds.

The top five was completed by Mark Mcauley with Vivaldi du Theil (Quaprice Boimargot Quincy) and Alain Jufer with Samira 368 (Baloubino B). They finished in respectively 66.03 seconds and 68.04 seconds.

After the class we had a small interview with the winner, Martin Fuchs, about the class and his quite new ride, Dubai du Bois Pinchet. "I had the advantage that I was before last to go in this class and I have a quite fast horse. I knew that if I stick to my plan that I could win or at least get into the lead. Everything went really well and I was a bit lucky on an oxer. The mare jumped great and everything went as I planned, so I was very happy."

About his victory he told us: "It's really nice to win here. It's a good crowd, a lot of ambiance and Geneva is a really nice show so to win any class here is amazing."

"I have Dubai now for about a little bit more than six months. In the beginning it was a little bit more difficult with her, but now she is jumping really good since a few months. A few weeks ago we won the 2* Grand Prix in Samoan. She is a very special horse with a lot of blood and very sensitive. She is quite nervous, but always tries to do the right thing. I'm sure she can jump the big classes later and she is one to watch for the future." the swiss rider finished.
