Nicola Philippaerts impresses with Grand Prix victory in Omaha
Today Nicola Philippaerts announced to retire from the ultimate Worldcup finals final round in Omaha, Nebraska. Nevertheless the Belgian showjumper impressed aboard his 10-year-old Belgian Warmblood Harley vd Bisschop (Dulf van den Bisschop) after a Grand Prix victory on Saturday night.

 

The pair stopped the clock in 38.65 seconds. Only two combinations completed their Jump-Off faultless. For Philippaerts his victory was good for just not 43.000 US Dollars. Only Philippaerts and Lorenzo de Luca produced a clear round.

The Stephex-rider placed as runner-up with the 11-year-old grey, Limestone Grey (Try-Time). The Italian rider completed the track in 39.77 seconds. The fastest time was set by Germany's Ludger Beerbaum and his grey-mare, Chiara (Contender). Beerbaum set a record time of 38.18 seconds, but jumped one rail down, resulting in a third place.

The top five was completed by USA's Karl Cook with Tembla (Tangelo vd Zuuthoeve) and the in the USA-living German Christian Heineking with NKH Calango (Calvados Z) in a fourth and fifth place.

All three European show jumping riders placing on stage expressed their gratitude and respect for the organisation.
