For a second day in a row, Simon Morssinkhof (BEL) found his way to the podium at Knokke Hippique – this time making it a home win in Friday morning’s CSI2* Super Cup 1.40 Grand Prix Qualifier presented by TVH.
No less than 75 riders had lined up to compete in this class counting for the World Ranking, where thirteen succeeded with a clear round to move on to race against the clock in the jump-off. Coming in towards the end, the 17-year-old Belgian talent put the 11-year-old gelding Bubsylon (Upsilon van de Heffinck x Joost) into top gear to shave the time down to an incredible 36.90 seconds after a lightning fast round. With his impressive performance, Morssinkhof pushed yesterday’s man-on-fire Koen Vereecke (BEL) down to second, with 1.29 seconds separating the two. Verecke rode his winner from yesterday’s Grand Prix Qualifier; the 9-year-old mare Ina van de Nieuwburghoeve (Nabab de Reve x Coriano). Micky Morssinkhof (NED) rounded off the top three aboard Care For Love (Cardento x Quite Easy 958), almost two seconds behind the winning time.
In the CSI2* 1.35m with immediate jump-off presented by Heusdens-Schäffer, it was another home win as Mathias Hazebroek (BEL) snatched the top honours from Katharina Offel (GER) who took an early lead as fifth to go. Riding the 10-year-old gelding Hanibal (Darco x Heartbreaker), Hazebroek came in towards the end of the class and shaved off 0.46 seconds on Offel and the 7-year-old Casper J&J Z’s (Cicero Z x Wiensender) time to bring home the victory to Belgium. Third place went to another home rider; Stephanie Vermeulen (BEL) on Iron Lady Van T Meulenhof (Parco x Quidam de Revel).
After winning this morning’s 1.35m presented by Gintin, Justine Tebbel (GER) was again unbeatable in the CSI2* 1.30m Table A against the clock presented by Dietz – this time riding Casa Ciara (Coupe de Coeur x Contender). The young talented German rider stopped the clock at 67.32 seconds, 2.5 seconds faster than runner-up Leonie Peeter (BEL) – who was best on behalf of the hosts aboard the 8-year-old Calva Z (Calvados Z x Upstairs). Third place also went to Belgium, courtesy of Aiko Paridean with Alpenfee (Gentleman x Lennard).
