Wilhelm Genn jumps to victory in the Suncast Championship Classic at WEF I
Just before the Saturday featured class started, the famous Battle of the Sexes, the Winter Equestrian Festival saw Wilhelm Genn speed to victory in the 25,000 USD Suncast 1.50m Championship Classic. Aboard his 10-year-old KWPN-gelding, Bugatti (Heartbreaker x Pilot) he repeated his victory of 2015. The pair crossed the finish clear in 37,661 seconds, leaving the other seven jump-off riders behind.

 

Great-Britain's, Jessica Mendoza placed second with her Belgian Warmblood horse toy Boy. Mendoza stopped the clock in 39,029 seconds. She was followed by Andrew Welles.

Welles guided his 15-year-old Belgian Warmblood-mare Bo van het Kastanjehof (by Thunder van de Zuuthoeve) to a clear round in 39,813 seconds, placing third. Jefferey Welles followed in a fourth place with the KWPN-gelding, Broken Heart (by Concorde).

 

The top five was completed by Leslie Howard with Up and Blue Chapelle. Emanuel Andrade and his new ride, Inne Van de Plataan made a successful debute placing sixth. The Zurich-mare jumped one rail down in 42,056 seconds. In the past she was competed by Belgium's Karel Cox.
