Winterbottom scoops SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier win at SouthView Equestrian Centre
Sarah Winterbottom from Glossop, Derbyshire gave a top class performance to scoop first place in Saturday’s SEIB Winter Novice Qualifier at SouthView Equestrian Centre in Cheshire.

The class kicked off with forty-three driven competitors all vying for one of the two qualification places on offer for the Championship Final which will be held at the prestigious Royal International Horse Show at Hickstead, West Sussex this summer. Following a high standard of jumping in the first round, twenty combinations were left to jump again. With eight going on to producing double clears, it was the clock that decided the winner.

Sarah Winterbottom delivered a speedy first round clear on board her own 8 year-old chestnut mare, Katie I, to make it through to the jump off. With an early draw, this talented partnership began their jump off round acutely aware of the importance of the clock. Posting a double clear in 33.12 seconds proved to be enough for Sarah and Katie I as no other combination was able to beat the standard that they had set.

Securing second place was Corinne Collins from Congleton, Cheshire with her own 7 year-old chestnut gelding, Fabienne C. This pair put forward a strong challenge and delivered their double clear in 34.81 seconds.
