Ben Maher takes dream win in front of home crowd in GCT Grand Prix of Londen

In Londen one of the highlights of the weekend has just been ridden: the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix. 34 combinations entered the show ground for this class with jump-off. 12 of those 34 combinations managed to jump a clear first round and came back for the all-deciding jump-off. A jump-off with 12 combinations therefore had to decide about the winner.

  1. Ben Maher - Explosion
  2. Shane Sweetnam - Alejandro
  3. Darragh Kenny - Classic Dream

Eventually it was the British rider Ben Maher who speeded to the victory in front of his home crowd after a sensational round. Ben Maher really wanted to win in front of his home crowd and he immediately went fast as lightening with Explosion W (f. Chacco Blue). They jumped a clear jump-off in 35,98 seconds, leaving the wood untouched. No other combination managed to equal the time of Maher meaning he was the clear winner.

The second place went to Shane Sweetnam. This Irish rider and his Alejandro (f. Acorado's Ass) cleared the course and crossed the finish line after 37,44 seconds. The top three was completed by another Irish rider who has been having very good results lately: Darragh Kenny. Today he and his Colestus gelding Classic Dream went super fast again and finished in third place.

The fourth place went to Niels Bruynseels. He and Jenson van't Meulenhof (f. Vagabond de la Pomme) crossed the finish line after 38,62 seconds. Eric Lamaze and Chacco Kid (f. Chacco-Blue) took account of the fifth place.
