Countdown To First-Ever LGCT Finals In New York Is On

The first-ever Longines Global Champions Tour and GCL finals to be staged in New York will kick off in just over two months with free entry for fans. The unique new event from 27 - 29 September will take place on Governors Island with the Manhattan skyline and the Statue of Liberty creating an unprecedented destination for world class show jumping.

The event on Governors Island will be a truly unique stage for top show jumping and I’m looking forward to my team New York Empire taking part in this inaugural New York show. I am sure it will be an exciting experience for equestrian fans and for people new to our wonderful sport.”

 

The LGCT and GCL finals in New York will be the climax of an exhilarating season crossing continents from the Middle East to the Americas, Europe and Asia before landing in the US once again for the finals. Competition has been intense in the GCL team series and all the squads will be pulling out their top guns for the New York finals to win as share of major prize money. And they will be battling to finish at the top of the grid for the GCL Super Cup Final at the GC Playoffs in Prague. Individual riders will be pulling out all the stops to win the last qualifying spot for the LGCT Super Grand Prix at the Playoffs.

 

The 172-acre Governors Island in New York Harbour is a venue for art, sport and culture and a favourite among New Yorkers escaping the city for the weekend.

 

Visitors to the event will be able to watch the A-list of the show jumping world in action in top-level competitions with free entry every day of the event. Visitors will arrive on Governors Island using the regular ferry services from Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn adding to the special nature of the event. International guests will be treated to hospitality in the chic lounge enjoying prime views of the sporting action and across to the scintillating Manhattan skyline.
