Belgiums Koen Vereecke gives public spectacular home win in Grand Prix
In Mechelen, one of the highlights of the weekend has just ended: the Grand Prix. 14 of the 41 starting combinations managed to jump a clear round and were invited to come back for the all-deciding jump-off. Seven of those 14 were Belgian riders, so the Belgian riders had very high hopes for a Belgian victory.

The first rider to entered the arena for the jump-off, was the British rider Guy William. With Rouge de Ravel (f. Ultimo van ter Moude), he rode a super fast round. Unfortunately his 13-year old stallion kicked down one fence, resulting in 4 penalties. He however rode a very fast round: 34,95 seconds. The only lady rider in the jump-off was the next to start jumping: Stephanie Holmen. This Swedish rider rode a clear round with Flip's Little Sparrow (f. Cardento) and finished in 34,97 seconds. She would end on fourth place in the overall rankings.

After Sweden it was up to Switzerland to enter the arena. Pius Schwizer and the only 9-year old About A Dream (f. Clinton) left the wood untouched and rode an even faster time than Olmen. Schwizer ended on third place.

Koen Vereecke is one of Belgiums best riders and he has had an amazing season so far. A Grand Prix in Mechelen would absolutely have great meaning dor him. Vereecke rode a very fast round and managed to ride even faster than Schwizer. He crossed the finish line after 33,25 seconds, putting Schwizer into second place.

The second place went to Daniel Deusser and Jasmien vd Bisschop. The 9-year old KWPN mare cleared the jump-off in 33,63 seconds. Olivier Philippaerts and H&M Extra (v. Berlin) completed the top five.
