In Hickstead the day started with the 1m50 Longines Rankings class. Here it was Belgium rider Jos Verlooy who kept the competition at bay. Together with his Jacobien Dwerse Hagen (Va-Vite) he took the competition in 35.54 seconds. A total of 13 combinations qualified for the jump-off.

Verlooy dove under the time of Italy's Roberto Turchetto and his Dutch Warmblood Adare (Royal Bravour) with whom he took second place in 36.07 seconds. Irish rider Michael Duffy then claimed third place aboard Casis (Cassus) with 36.66 seconds.
