Week eight, sponsored by Lugano Diamonds, features CSIO 4* competition from March 1-5. Highlight events include the $150,000 FEI Nations Cup on Friday night, March 3, and the $216,000 CSIO 4* Grand Prix, presented by Lugano Diamonds, on Sunday afternoon, March 5. Competition can be viewed live HERE. The 12-week WEF circuit continues through April 2, 2017, awarding over $9 million in prize money.
Ken Krome (USA) is the course designer for competition in the International Arena during week eight. Krome set the speed track for 57 starters in the day session of the $5,000 Lugano Diamonds Welcome class with 12 clear rounds.
As we mentioned before, part A was won by Peter Lutz (USA).
A second session of the $5,000 Lugano Diamonds Welcome was also held in the evening under the lights, with a win for Laura Chapot (USA) riding her own and Mary Chapot’s Calafornia.
Chapot and the 10-year old KWPN horse Calafornia (v. Ultimo) stopped the clock in 62,72 seconds.
Eduardo Menezes, who wasn't able at all to beat Chapot's time. He stayed clear with the 11-year old BWP-gelding, Hello Sunshine (v. Diamant de Semilly) in a time of 71,46 seconds. Jos Verlooy, the former rider of Hello Sunshine, can be proud to have trained this horse.
Alejandro Karolyi and Costa Rica (v. Cicero Z van Paemel) came in third with a time of 72,75 seconds.
Jessica Mendoza (Toy Boy) en Pablo Barrios (A S D Farfala Hyodario) completed the top five of this 1.45m CSIO4* class.
