Juan Matute Guimon transferred to private clinic for second operation

The 22-year old dressage rider Juan Matute Guimon is still fighting for his life. He now is transferred to a private clinic in Madrid where he will have a second surgery today.

Juan had a severe bleeding in his brain when I was brought to the hospital earlier this week. He lost consciousness in his yard and have been in a critical condition ever since.

On Wednesday the Spanish rider had his first operation where neurosurgeons tried to stop the bleeding. This was very difficult given the fact that the bleeding took place in a highly sensitive and difficult area to reach. However, on Wednesday night the bleeding stopped. An Arteriovenous malformation would be the cause of the bleeding.

In the meanwhile, Juan developed a fever duo to inflammation in the brains. This had been treated with medication and has delayed the second operation. "The Spanish riders condition is stabilizes, but still very grave", the doctors say.
