Stars of show jumping ready themselves for LGCT Chantilly
Many of the stars of show jumping are stretching their legs today ahead of tomorrow’s first CSI5* for the opening day of competition at the Longines Global Champions Tour of Chantilly. Big names include Rolf-Göran’s Bengtsson’s formidable stallion Casall ASK and Ludger Beerbaum’s LGCT Grand Prix of Hamburg winning 13 year old gelding, and son of Casall, Casello. Edwina Tops-Alexander (AUS) brings the 11 year old bay mare, Caretina de Joter, and LGCT Ranking Leader Christian Ahlmann (GER) has made his intentions clear, bringing the beautifully marked stallion Colorit. Last year’s LGCT Champion of Champions Luciana Diniz (POR) brings back the stunning grey stallion Winningmood, a horse who helped her win two of her three Grands Prix last year.

Scott Brash’s (GBR) Hello Annie makes her return to the Tour for the first time this year, and is joined by Hello Forever, the chestnut 9 year old who has been on fantastic form at previous LGCT shows. David Will (GER) brings his winning ride Mic Mac du Tillard, and Monodie H, a combination who helped to win the Global Champions League team competition in Shanghai for the Cascais Charms.

Young Belgian star, Jos Verlooy (BEL), brings two of his top horses to Chantilly, with the grey stallion Caracas - with whom he took the bronze medal with in LGCT Grand Prix of Mexico City - back in action plus the dark liver chestnut Farfelu de la Pomme. His compatriot and last year’s LGCT Grand Prix of Chantilly winner, Gregory Wathelet (BEL), brings the 11 year old chestnut gelding Algorhythem and fellow Belgian rider Olivier Philliapaerts (BEL) has with him the grey H&M Legend Of Love.

Bertram Allen’s (IRL) blindingly quick chestnut Quiet Easy will also be back for the LGCT Chantilly, as will Sheikh Ali Bin Khalid Al Thani’s (QAT) top horse, Vienna Olympic.

Tomorrow’s first CSI5* class will take place at 08:45 with the field of riders taking to the impressive arena for the first time. All the CSI5* action will be broadcast live via GCT TV, with the Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Chantilly taking place on Saturday at 15:30 local time. The Global Champions League of Chantilly team competition will take place at 16:45 local time on Sunday 29th May.
