In Abu Dhabi today, The President of the UAE Showjumping Cup has been kicked off. During the 5* opening class, Italian Emanuele Gaudiano immediately jumped into the spotlight aboard the nine-year-old Dutch Warmblood Julius.D (Arezzo VDL).
The win in this opening class went to Emanuele Gaudiano, who, riding the chestnut gelding Julius.D, proved the fastest of 14 clear combinations. With 59.18 seconds on the clock, the Italian posted an unbeatable result, which only Ireland's Shane Breen came close to. Breen thus sent the 15-year-old BWPer Z7 Ipswich (Cerembar De Muze) to silver, ahead of German Nicola Pohl and the chestnut gelding Arlo de Blondel (Tlaloc M).
Almost two seconds after the top three, Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida came in fourth on the back of the chestnut mare Pegasus Cekanane (Kannan). Completing the top five for the home crowd was Abdullah Humaid Al Muhairi and the 12-year-old gelding Coening (Cordobes I).
