Cian O'Connor invests in five-year-old Chunky and Olaf!

The ninth edition of The Youngsters Auction proved to be a remarkable success, attracting top Olympic riders who seized the opportunity to invest in some very promising young showjumpers. Three horses were sold for over €100.000, and customers from all over the world invested in the collection tonight. The auction highlight was Chunky (by Conthargos), which reached the top price of €110.000.

Olympic rider Cian O’Connor made a strong statement at the auction by securing the two most expensive horses of the night. He placed the winning bid of €105.000 for Olaf (by Poker de Mariposa TN), the final horse of the evening, and also claimed the auction topper, Chunky (by Conthargos), for an impressive €110.000. “We are absolutely thrilled with the results. It’s fantastic to see so many of our horses sold to top international riders like Cian O’Connor and Steve Guerdat. We achieved realistic prices tonight, and we wish the new owners the best of luck with these exceptional horses,” states Peter van der Waaij.

Three talents for Steve Guerdat
Former Olympic champion and Olympic silver medalist from Paris, Steve Guerdat, was also present at the auction, adding some exciting young prospects to his team. He secured O’Pleasure (by Connect) for €85.000 and further strengthened his stable by purchasing two additional horses. The average price for the three-year-olds was €24,000, while the ridden horses fetched an average of €69.500.

“A fantastic result”
The collection of The Youngsters Auction attracted buyers from all over the world, including Ireland, Switzerland, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom, Slovakia, Poland, Argentina, Belgium, and the Netherlands. “Out of the 22 horses presented, 20 were successfully sold—a fantastic result for the owners and for us as an organization,” states Peter van der Waaij. “It’s amazing to see both returning clients and new buyers, reflecting the international growth of the auction.”
