by Equnews Editorial
From October 6-22, 2017, the eighth edition of the Morocco Royal Tour will begin in Tétouan, the first of the three legs featured. The event has become one of international show jumping’s major shows, offering a unique setting for top-level competition.
Twenty nations will be represented by 70 international competitors, with nearly 250 horses in attendance. Organized by the Royal Guard, the Royal Moroccan Federation for Equestrian Sports, and the Association du Salon Du Cheval D’El Jadida, the MRT offers a three weeks circuit of international showjumping endowed by the FEI. A CSI3*W, a CSIO3*W and a CSI1* are on the program with a total of 45 classes. Thirteen count towards the FEI Longines Rankings List, and three serve as qualifying grand prix’s for the World Cup Final.
The highlights of the three-week tournament will include The Nations Cup of Rabat, in which 9 teams — Saudi Arabia, Belgium, Egypt, France, Italy, Morocco, Qatar, Switzerland and Syria — are enlisted, and “The Salon du Cheval: Ten years of pride and passion”, taking place during the third and last leg of El Jadida.
The circuit will offer a total prize money of €537,700 for the CSI3*W and €49,000 for the CSI1*.
