Invincible Germany in Osnabrück

With only one Nations Cup to go, last weekends EuroCup Challange in Osnabrück, Germany was a high stake for all the student riders teams from over the world. The World University Equestrian Games have turned out to be a no-go this year. Reasons enough for all the teams to focus on the World Finals, organized at New Years in Wellington, USA. Hosting country Germany claimed most of the prices. A gold medal in the overall standing and dressage made the German team invincible. Thanks to Marian Altemeier who claimed the second spot in the final dressage cup and fourth place showjumping. Compatriot Magdalena Preissler took home the dressage victory and fifth overall place. The results of these German 'leading' ladies was the final cut for a home-victory. With an international composed team in the top three the points for second place go to Spain, who proved to be on a 'roll' this year. Great Britain ends fourth but welcomes the points of the third spot. Big surprise was Dutch Milou Anthonisse. This dressage phenomenon rode her way to the second place in the showjumping finals, set at a height of 1.25 - 1.30m. Victory was for Jonas Dietz while Spanish Miguel Vasquez took home the third place. In dressage the top three was completed by belgian Caroline Van der Heyden. She will be one to watch in Wellington were she will compete together with Robin Moors and Britta van Schoenwinkel. more info: aiecworld.com
