Jeroen Dubbeldam: "At first I saw the reschedule of the Olympics as something positive"

In an interview with the Dutch broadcasting channel NOS, Jeroen Dubbeldam stated that at first, he was very happy with the Olympics being rescheduled. He was in full preparation with his gelding Carlyle, but given the fact that this was a relatively new horse for him, he could use the extra preparation. Therefore, at first, I was very happy that the Olympics were rescheduled", Dubbeldam says.

On the second hand, he realized that postponing the Olympics, caused one big problem for him. He is not sure that Carlyle will still be in his stables by the time of the Olympics of 2021. He had an agreement with the German owner until the Olympics of this year; but they didn't discuss yet what would happen after that.

Now, a week later, Dubbeldam is not sure yet: "I did speak to the owner but he couldn't guarantee that he was going to keep the horse until 2021. He however didn't say he was going to sell him either. The only thing I can do right now is wait to see how the situation will develop in the next couple of weeks".
