The FEI/WBDSH World Championships for young jumping horses kicked off today in Lanaken. Our editorial team is on-site and analyzed all of the riders & horses for you. No less than 75 young show jumping horses will be competing for the three World-titles starting today.
45 nationalities will be represented by 507 riders. You won't be surprised to read that the best-represented studbook is - of course - Zangersheide.
With the seven-year-olds, it's the KWPN and BWP that share the leading position. Zangersheide does a little better than KWPN with the six-year-olds, the BWP is in third place in that age category. Zangersheide also has the most horses in the classes for five-year-olds. The KWPN is in second place right in front of the BWP. The fourth-biggest studbook is the Selle Français.
We will be seeing mostly geldings here in Lanaken. 38,97% of the horses are geldings, a bit more than the number of mares competing this week. A total of 37,25% of the competing horses is female.

Stephan Conter is the owner with the most entered horses in this WC. A grand total of 9 horses are fully or partly owned by Conter. Studbook Zangersheide entered 8 horses, fully owning all of them. Team Philippaerts and JV-Horses share third place.
What about performances?
Thanks to the Hippomundo ranking, we can check out the different horses' performances a bit closer. The ranking puts Skylandria Z (Super Trooper de Ness x Indoctro) in first place with the five-year-old horses. This mare already collected a number of impressive performances with her British rider Emma Stoker. This breeding product of Yvonne Copal jumped 30 clear rounds out of 33 international starts.
With the six-year-olds, Nina vh Scheefkasteel is leading the ranking. This bay daughter of Numero Uno x Diamant de Semilly was bred by Johan Hubrechts and has done incredibly well in her budding career with Maxime Harmegnies. Only this year, the pair already won 19 times at an international level.
The SF-bred Citadin du Chatellier leads the ranking of seven-year-olds. This son of l'Arc de Triomphe x Diamant de Semilly was bred by David and Jean-Louis Demasle. With rider Nicolas Delmotte, he already won 14 international titles. Unfortunately, the top three of this ranking isn't present in Lanaken.
