The 1.60m Longines Grand Prix at the Royal Dublin Horse show delivered excitement and topsport. From the 40 combinations at the start, seven managed to qualify for the Jump-Off. In the end it was Switzerland's Edouard Schmitz who jumped to victory aboard his 10-year-old Gamin van 't Naastveldhof (Chacco-Chacco).
Aboard the 10-year-old sBs-gelding, bred by Belgium's Patrick De Heer, the Swiss showjumper was the only combination to produce a clear Jump-Off in under 40 seconds. Leaving Ireland's Conor Swail as runner-up with the 15-year-old Count Me In (Count Grannus). In front of the home-crowd, Shane Sweetnam completed the stage.
Sweetnam and his 9-year-old James Kann Cruz (Kannan) advanced on compatriot Andrew Bourns with Sea Topblue (Chacco-Blue). France's lady in form, Megane Moissonnier completed the top five with the 13-year-old Cordial (Casall).
