The $ 24,975.00 Grand Prix was the featured event of the 48th annual PJA Jumper show held at the Swan Lake Stables show grounds located just outside historic Gettysburg, Pa. World class course builder Manuel Esparza of Mexico set a demanding course for the 37 competitors consisting of olympic veterans as well as first time Grand Prix starters. The course had 13 numbered jumps with 3 doubles and 16 total jumping efforts which saw 12 horses move on to the jump off.
Leading off the jump off was Marylisa Leffler on Rolling Acres “Pablo” finishing with 8 faults in 34.363. Next to compete was Germany’s Matthias Hollberg aboard his own “Mystic Blue HH” scoring 4 faults in a blazing time of 29.045. Irishman Cian Mc Dermott returned aboard Schneiders Sporthorses “ Feliciano van D’Notterdijk “ to jump to the top of the class with a clean round in a time of 31.599. Tracey Magness returned aboard John Bartko’s “ Intenz van HD “ to edge out Mc Dermott with a clean round in 31.237 to take over the lead. Next to go was Sandra Zimmerli aboard her own “ Geronimo 132 “ jumping to a 4 fault score in 32.646. “ Orientales “ with Sima Morgello were next in the ring and finished with 8 faults in 30.360. New Zealand’s Kirk Webby returned on the first of his two rides aboard Navy Stables “ Jumanji “ jumping clear in 33.862 moving them in to 3rd place. Debi Mc Carthy-Connor was next to challenge aboard Freedom Hill Farm’s “ Sashi W “ jumping to a 4 fault score in 33.780. Columbia’s Olympic veteran Manuel Torres returned on Santa Catalina Farm’s “ Christofoliuni H “ but a miscommunication between horse and rider resulted in elimination. Belgian rider Filip De Wandel aboard Five Way Farm’s “ Elyria Sitte “ jumped to the top of the class with an eloquent clean round in 30.516. However the lead was short lived as Marilyn Little returned on Karen O”Connor’s “ Clearwater “ to race to the top of the class with a clear round in 29.070. New Zealand’s Kirk Webby returned with his 2nd ride the Tolleshunt Investment Group’s “ Brando Du Rouet “ (Baloubet Du Rouet ) and raced to the victory with a clear round in a blazing time of 28.271.Kirk was also awarded the $ 2,000.00 Horseflight leading rider title and enjoyed his Fathers Day celebration with his daughter Jade who received the David Fowler Custom Tack Trunks grooms
