Richard Vogel wins Afflux 5* qualifier aboard Cepano Baloubet

Coming off an already notable string of successes in his tour throughout Mexico this fall, Germany's Richard Vogel scored another victory on Friday in the $142,500 Afflux 5* qualifier during the eighth leg of Major League Show Jumping (MLSJ).

Riding the nine-year-old German-bred gelding Cepano Baloubet (Chaman x Stakkato's Highlight), Vogel scored the top placing by a margin of less than a second over Ashlee Bond (ISR) with Donatello 141 (Diarado x Lamoureux I) in second and Shane Sweetnam (IRL) with RR Combella (Cornet du Lys x Indoctro) in third. From a 10-horse jump-off over tracks built by Anthony d'Ambrosio (USA), the German flag flew for Vogel at the historic Concurso La Silla venue in Monterrey, Mexico.

Vogel, currently ranked no. 13 in the world, is now primed with momentum heading into Sunday's GNP Seguros 5* Grand Prix of Monterrey.

MLSJ action continues at Concurso La Silla on Saturday with the seventh leg of the MLSJ Cabana Coast Team Competition at 3:20 p.m. UTC and the GNP Seguros 5* Grand Prix of Monterrey takes the spotlight on Sunday at 2:20 p.m. UTC.
