The American Student Riders Organization (a chapter of the FEI recognized collegiate organization AIEC) has the honor of hosting the AIEC-SRNC World Finals of Student Riding at the Global Dressage Stadium in Wellington, FL. The preliminary rounds of competition will be held on December 30 and 31 and the final rounds will be held on January 1, 2014. Donated horses are still needed for the event. Those interested in donating a horse for the competition please refer to the contacts below. The competition requires riders to compete in both show jumping and dressage. Rider from all over the world that are current or graduated college students will be competing for their nations. Owners/trainers are welcome to warm-up their own horses or a warm-up rider will be provided. Stabling will also be provided, if needed. Donated horses that are sales horses will be promoted as such in the warm-up area and competition ring. The riders compete in a knock-out format, where three riders will compete on the same horse and the highest score advances. For the preliminary dressage rounds held on December 30, horses will be competing in training level, 1st level, and 2nd level. Preliminary show jumping rounds will range from .90 cm to 1.15 m in fence heights. Jumper type fences will be used. Final rounds for dressage will be at 3rd level and a 4th level/Prix St. George Freestyle. Show jumping finals rounds will be held at 1.15-1.20m and 1.20-1.30m. There will be two leagues at the competition: Gold and Silver. The 6 Gold League countries have earned their top positions by accumulating points at shows in Europe throughout the year. The remaining Silver League riders will be competing for a guaranteed spot in the Gold League at next year’s World Finals. The borrowed horses are drawn at random and riders are given limited warm up time before competing on their designated mounts. This is the first time in over 10 years that the United States team has hosted our fellow international student riders on home soil. We would like to thank Michael Stone from Equestrian Sport Productions for his support of the event.
