The FEI Athlete Representatives announced

Equestrian sport makes history as athletes vote online for FEI Athlete Representatives, for the first time in the FEI’s 93-year history, and today the 17th of July, we had the final results. It’s with a great pleasure that IJRC and NARG announce that the IJRC Vice President, Rodrigo Pessoa, one of the best riders in the world, has been elected by all the athlete all over the world, as the FEI Athlete Representatives for Jumping. The FEI Jumping Committee is the highest authority for the international show jumping, and as Ingmar De Vos, FEI Secretary General & CEO , explained: “Our athlete representatives play a vital role in the governance of equestrian sport, acting as a voice for all our athletes and actively shaping the FEI’s global development, so it is only right that the athletes themselves should decide who will represent them”. And the Jumping riders have decided that Rodrigo will be their key ambassador for the Jumping sport, and he will represent their global voice. After knew the result, Rodrigo said: “I am honored to have been chosen by my colleagues from around the world. I will represent them with effort and commitment”. A total of 26 candidates from 10 nations standed for election as FEI Athlete Representatives on the FEI Technical Committees for Jumping, Dressage, Para-Equestrian, Eventing, Driving, Endurance, Vaulting and Reining, and IJRC would like to thank all the riders who candidated for this very important role. The terms for all newly elected athlete representatives on their relevant Technical Committee will start following the conclusion of the FEI General Assembly on 14 December 2014 in line with all newly elected/appointed members on FEI Technical Committees & FEI Bureau. Meanwhile, NARG joins IJRC to wish Rodrigo good luck for his new important and crucial role to be Athlete Representatives forming the Athletes’ Committee and also to serve the Technical Committees . IJRC and the North American Riders Group, (NARG), infact, have signed an historic letter of intent in which the former is recognized by the latter as the primary riders’ jumping representative in international equestrian sport to Lausanne’s headquarters eyes. The cooperation has just been realized by naming Ken Fartington as representative of the NARG to be part of the IJRC Board.
