The American McLain Ward was able to take second place with Contagious (by Contagio) with 33.13 seconds, a very narrow margin of only 0.03 seconds with Thijssen. Kim Emmen was third with Jack van het Dennehof (by Quidam de Revel) with 33.52 seconds. Bryan Balsiger was fourth on Ak's Courage (by Chepetto C) with 34.26 seconds and Peder Fredericson was fifth on H&M All in (by Kashmir Van Schuttershof).
