The FEI Dressage World Cup Freestyle in London was the highlight of a lot of dressage riders' week. Fifteen pairs danced their way through the exercises but only one team could take home the trophy!
That combination was British rider Charlotte Fry on her trusted Glamourdale (Lord Leatherdale x Negro) with a score of almost 90%! They were unanimously awarded the gold by the five judges: Susanne Baarup (DEN), Clive Halsall (GBR), Peter Storr (GBR), Marietta Almasy (FRA) and Elke Ebert (BEL). Their best part of the test was the extended canter, for which they got multiple 10's. Charlotte's music and interpretation of the music was seen as perfect by the judges as every single one of them gave her a 10/10 for that part! The pair clearly showed a lot of difficult parts as they were awarded a 9.6 average on difficulty and calculated risks.
Charlotte Fry: "It was absolutely amazing today and to be able to have a ride like that is just wonderful! I also got a bit emotional with all the support I got here and I loved riding here. It’s always very special to be able to ride in front of a home crowd and Glamourdale is always amazing here, I think it’s his third win here already so he clearly loves London as much as I do. I will celebrate but I do have another class here tomorrow with the Future Stars so it won’t be too much."
Becky Moody danced to second place on her homebred Jagerbomb (Dante Weltino OLD x Jazz) with a total of 86.410 %. Their silver spot was also unanimously awarded by the judges. The pair had a very consistent test with some higher scores for the flying changes and pirouettes.
The Norwegian rider Isabel Freese made sure that there was at least one non-British pair in the top 5. Freese saddled Total Hope OLD (Totilas x Blue Hors Don Schufro) to ride to third place with a final score of 81.695 % and high scores for their extended canter.
Susan Pape finished in fourth place together with Harmony's Giulilanta (Jazz x Flemmingh) with a score of 79.805 % while Charlotte Dujardin and Alive And Kicking (All at Once x Fürst Piccolo) claimed fifth place with a final score of 79.230 %.
