Gold medal for Belgian team at European Championships

Team Belgium’s Pieter Devos (Claire Z), Jos Verlooy (Igor), Jerome Guery (Quel Homme de Hus) and Gregory Wathelet (MJT Nevados S) made history when winning gold today at the Longines FEI European Jumping Championships 2019 in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.

Belgium had never before won a medal at these Championships which first took place in Rotterdam in 1957, and they pinned the seven-time champions from Germany into silver and Great Britain into bronze medal position.

There were three Olympic spots on offer to countries not already qualified, and they went to Belgium, Great Britain and the fourth-placed French.
