Deathly horse virus probably derived from zebras

We already wrote that a deathly horse virus killed several horses in Thailand. The gouvernement had to cope with this virus and the coronavirus which caused a lot of troubles. It was thought that the deathly horse virus was a coronavirus as well and could infect humans.

It now appears that the virus originates from zebras that were on their way to China via Thailand. Since February, about 500 horses have died from the virus. It is African African horse sickness, a virus that is not harmful to humans. The virus has been spread among equidae in Africa, including zebras.
