James Smith provisionally suspended by FEI

Great Britain's rider, James Smith has been provisionally suspended by the FEI following images that have surfaced, showing questionable training techniques at a Spanish showjumping event. "These training methods have no place in our sport," FEI reacts.

"Currently the FEI is liaising with the British Equestrian Federation regarding James Smith. We have provisionally suspended him on Saturday 16 MArch 2024. The reason are images that show training methods in violation to equine welfare."

The provisional suspension is also imposed by the British Showjumping association. In a release from the FEI a spokesman says: "The training methods depicted in the images have no place in our sport and are against any regulations. Therefor they will no be tolerated."
