McLain Ward is the former world number one and is currently ranked as the number 10 on the Longines Ranking. In his career, the American rider represented the United States five times at the Olympics, bringing home four medals but also is responsible for three medals at the World Equestrian Games. That said, it was no surprise he was chosen as a team member for the U.S. Jumping team for last week's Longines League of Nations at the World Equestrian Center - Ocala, with whom he took home another medal.
