Paul Schockemöhle and Ullrich Kasselman, both in their mid-70s, are no strangers. Many know the two primarily from the PSI-auctions. But the duo, together with Paul's wife Bettina, also do more together: they organize several competitions in Germany for example. Just think of Hagen (Horses & Dreams and Future Stars), Neumünster (VR Classics) and also Bremen (German Classics). From that organizational business, which under the company PST Marketing, Paul (and Bettina) Schockemöhle and Ullrich Kasselmann, are now retiring.
Ulrich's Kasselmann's son François would now take over the steering wheel. The two men announced this themselves last weekend in Neumünster where they made the announcement about this bug step at a meeting. In recent years Schockemöhle already passed on a large part of his enterprises to his daughter and also sold parts of his companies. Paul announced that he 'does not want to be carried out of his companies but still be able to walk out himself.'
Hope for a free Sunday at home
At the Lewitz stud farm and its logistics businesses, Schockemöhle himself is still in charge. Wife Bettina Schockemöhle must see that her husband hands over responsibility there too: "Letting go is not really his thing, because he still has so much to do." Still, she has hope that her husband can now just be home on a Sunday without having to work.
No more national coach for Japan
The German website spring-reiter.de, which was present at the meeting in Neumünster, reports that Schockemöhle is also quitting as Japanese national coach. "I am 76, have been through eleven Olympic Games. I don't need to be at the Olympics anymore at 80. The Japanese wanted me to continue, but my time is up. They still have the horses with me and I now have a relatively flexible contract as a consultant" , said Schockemöhle.
