One horse is said to have died at the clinic in Barcelona while another died after returning home to Germany. The horse in question is Luna, the top mare owned by Jörne Sprehe. This makes her the fifth horse of a German rider to have died.

The FEI says that 83 horses with symptoms are being treated at the concourse. A total of 15 horses are in a clinic (13 in Valencia and two in Barcelona). According to the FEI, communication and handling of this crisis has also improved. Gançalo Paixao, veterinary manager at the FEI, and Marco Fuste, director of jumping, have meanwhile also descended on Valencia and are part of the FEI team that has taken charge at the competition.
