Everybody knows horses cannot talk, riders and owners create a connection with their horse and try to understand the signals their pet transfers. To improve the communication between horse and human a team of veterinarians created the idea to develop a new app. The idea is to improve the communication between human and horse to see if your horse is in pain or not. This will improve clinical diagnosis as well as general treatment. The scientists first proved that facial expression with horses is an objective way to analyse the pain with horses. Doctor Thijs Van Loon, founder of the project, explains the system is related to the Intensive Care formula used in hospitals. "When the patient arrives his VAS-score (Visual Analog Score) indicates how high the pain his/her pain level is. The same counts for horses." The intention is to develop an app that not only helps the 'vet' but also the horse owners in offering a better care system for their pet. The organisation now has developed a crowd funding to fund the app development that will cost about 40,000 Euro.
