Martin Fuchs seems to florish on home soil. In Ascona, the back-to-back Rolex Grand Prix winner of Spruce Meadows won Friday's biggest four star classes.
Their biggest win was Friday night's CSI4* 1m50 Grand Prix Qualifier. In front of a home crowd, he and the 11-year-old L&L Upgrade (Ultimo) were the only ones to dip under 62 seconds with their time of 61.98s. The Ultimo son returned to work with Fuchs, since this spring, after a one-and-a-half-year break.
Francesco Turturiello had the Plot Blue daughter Palina Keeps ZL under the saddle and finished in 62.10s. Jack Whitaker managed to send Equine America Valmy de La Lande (Mylord Carthago) across the finish line in the exact same time, putting him and Turturiello in second place.
On four came Niklaus Rutschi with Amar des Brimbelles Z (Amadeus Z*Brimbelles) with a time of 62.23s ahead of Koen Vereecke and Kasanova de La Pomme (Bamako de Muze) who finished in 63.09s.
Double victory for Martin Fuchs on home soil
Martin Fuchs previously edged an Italian combination to two by winning the preceding CSI4* 1m45 class on Zero K. This son of Kannan has only had the Swiss rider under the saddle since this summer. Giacomo Casadei chased with more than a second difference on two with Olivia VLS, a BWP mare by Ultimate de Kreisker bred by the Mestdagh brothers. The bronze was for the Dutch bred Farezzo, a KWPN by Arezzo VDL, under local combination Thibaut Keller.
