Making her debut on Californian soil, Jessica Springsteen didn't hesitate on winning Wednesday's CSI5$-W 1m45 Special Two Phase.
The Opening FEI Competition was packed with top athletes and horses, including Olympic legends. 69 horse-and-rider combinations found their way to the start of the 1m45 challenge. Jessica Springsteen (USA) finished a full second ahead of Laura Kraut (USA) and Conor Swail (IRL). Springsteen counted on Naomi van het Keizershof (Cardento) to make this unforgettable entry. Kraut had the 9 years old Tres Bien Z (Toulon) under the saddle. Swail was ahead of his female colleagues, starting early on with Vital Chance de La Roque (Diamant de Semilly) but couldn't keep his hands on his leading position, ending third.
Richard Vogel (GER), winner of last weekend's Longines FEI Jumping World Cup in own house (Stuttgart), blazed to fifth place with Phenyo van het Keysersbos (Corydon van T&L). Vogel also secured sixth place with the only eight years old Levi Noesar (Zirocco Blue VDL). In front of them on four was Savannah Jenkins (USA) aboard Bresil de Carnaval Santa Rosa (Mylord Carthago).
