Of the 37 competing riders and horses, only seven combinations were able to qualify for the jump-off. Irishman Marc McAuley took home the top prize in the saddle of Destinee de Vains (Untouchable). "My mare, Destinee de Vains, is very cautious. She tends to overjump. That's why I just wanted to do a quiet, safe round with some tight turns and see how far I'd get," he said. "I'm naturally delighted that it even led to victory." In the saddle of the 11-year-old French Untouchable daughter, he had already set such a good time as the second starter in the jump-off with 39.67 seconds and a clear round that the pair could not be caught."

A clear ride on the London offspring Carem Sandy earned Antonio Maria Garofalo second place. Laura Klaphake had the third and final clear round with Quin 13 (Verdi TN).

Hans-Dieter Dreher came close to McAuley's time but a pole down left him with Cous Cous 3 (Cachas) in fourth place. Douglas Lindelöw decided not to compete in the jump-off with Charlie's Way (Chacco-Blue) and therefor landed on five.
