Today was rest day at the European Jumping Championships in A Coruña. Nevertheless, the arena was the setting for two CSI3* competitions today. In the Porsche Grand Prix (1m55) Daniel Coyle crossed the finish line fastest, during the Movistar Trophy Álvaro González De Zarate Fernandez was able to take the win.
Victory in the Porsche Grand Prix went to Daniel Coyle from Ireland with Daydream, who rode a clear round in 77.74 seconds and the jump-off in 38.56 seconds. Abdel Saïd took second place with Calvaro, with a clear round in 78.98 seconds and a jump-off of 39.13 seconds. Christian Kukuk finished in third place with Chageorge, also clear in the first round (80.87 seconds) and jump-off (41.89 seconds). Fourth position was taken by Spaniard Javier Gonzalez Fraga with Sonic JGF, who stayed clear in the first round (81.88 seconds) but suffered four penalties in the jump-off (39.28 seconds). The top five was completed by Ireland's Darragh Kenny with Zero K, who also collected 4 penalty points in the jump-off (39.37 seconds) after a clear first round (80.42 seconds).
Spanish riders dominate on home turf!
Victory in the Movistar Trophy went to Spaniard Álvaro González De Zarate Fernandez, who rode a clear round in 61.20 seconds with Cornets Esmeray PS (Cornet Obolensky). His compatriot Julio Arias Cueva finished in second place with Carambola (Cachas), also clear in 65.09 seconds. Third position was taken by Pello Elorduy Ibarzabal of Spain with Champenoise de Rampan (Voltigeur de rampan), who stopped the clock at 65.64 seconds with no penalties.
Felipe Ramos Guinato of Brazil and Garota de Ipanema MC took fourth place with a clear round in 68.45 seconds. The top five was completed by Germany's Christian Kukuk with Viki van Gogh, who also completed a clear round in 73.08 seconds. Kukuk won team bronze at the European Championships just yesterday.
