British based Irish Dressage rider Roland Tong and his World Equestrian Games mount Pompidou (Roulette x Ramiro's son) have parted ways. The 16 year old Westphalian gelding has not been retired from the sport but he will be taking a step back from top competition. Owned by Sarah and Keith Wrigley, Pompidou made his international debut with Roland Tong in 2010. In 2012 Roland declared for Ireland. The duo became Irish national champions in 2013. They also represented Ireland at 2013 European Championships in Herning, Denmark and at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Caen, France. "My good friend Pompidou (has) returned home to his owners. He has been the most amazing horse," Tong explained. "Together we have competed from advance medium to winning international Grand Prix , competing World Cup qualifiers, European championships and finishing on a harmonious clear round at the world championships. He has given me everything and for that I am forever grateful. "He's not ready for retirement, far too young at heart, but an easier life will be great for him," he said. "He will now be spoilt rotten at home with his generous owners Sarah and Keith Wrigley."
