The Van Baalen stables in The Netherlands has been hit by tragedy. One of their DVB Broodmares was attacked by a group known locally as the 'Horse Torturers'. The mare was heavily pregnant at the time of the attack and unfortunately lost the foal. The mare was then euthanised as her injuries were just too severe. Coby van Baalen : "Of course I've heard all the stories about the beatings that take place throughout The Netherlands on pregnant mares. The people that can do something like that, I can't quite wrap my head around it. The mare was totally ripped open. She was so damaged that we put her straight out of her misery. She has lost her foal." The attacks have taken place throughout The Netherlands and Belgium for a few years now by this group. There is a petition to put an end to this, which you can sign here
