Michael Mronz is third German to join the IOC

During its 141st session in Mumbai, India, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) has elected entrepreneur, sports, and event manager Michael Mronz as a member. The native of Cologne, along with IOC President Thomas Bach and athlete representative Britta Heidemann, now represents the third German member in the IOC. The IOC session, as the gathering of all members, serves as the highest governing body of the IOC.

"With the addition of Michael Mronz, the IOC gains an outstanding figure in German sports as a member. His comprehensive knowledge of sports, economics, and media relationships will be an asset to the IOC. We are also delighted that, with Michael Mronz, an equestrian expert has been elected to the IOC," said Hans-Joachim Erbel, President of the German Equestrian Federation (FN). Since 1997, Michael Mronz has served as the managing director of the Aachener Reitturnier GmbH and held the position of chairman of the organizing committee for the 2006 World Equestrian Games in Aachen in this capacity.
