The eleven-year-old daughter of Toulon, bred by Jürgen Böge, is set to be campaigned by a talented twelve-year-old Swedish rider. It is a familiar role for Tokyo, as she previously helped Hannes Ahlmann transition to the top levels of the sport.

From Young Horses to the World Cup

Ahlmann produced the mare himself, leading her to a fourth-place finish at the 2022 World Championships for Young Showjumpers. The pair grew into a formidable team, progressing from the Youngster Tour to five-star World Cup appearances. Their most recent success came in Neumünster, where they secured a victory in one of the major jumping classes.

Tokyo was previously owned by Ahlmann’s long-time patron, Prof. Dr. Bernd Heicke. Dirk Ahlmann noted that the move to Sweden is the right step: "Above all, we feel immense gratitude for the time Hannes spent with this extraordinary horse. For Tokyo, this move is the right decision."

Future prospects

While Tokyo’s departure marks the end of an era, Hannes Ahlmann’s hopes for the future rest on the nine-year-old KWPN stallion Madness (by Kannan). Madness recently proved his potential by finishing second in the 1.55m championship in Neumünster and has already reached two World Championship finals for young horses.
